Lift New Forest Secures £4,428 Grant for Music Lessons

Waterside Community Fund grant will support music tuition for up to 27 students.

Students at Lift New Forest are set to benefit from professional music tuition after the school secured a £4,428 grant from the Waterside Community Fund.

The funding will provide financial assistance towards the cost of instrumental and vocal lessons for up to 27 students, including 16 studying GCSE Music.

By helping remove the cost of private lessons, the funding will give more students the opportunity to develop their musical abilities and consider taking music further after GCSE.

The Waterside Community Fund is a Hampshire charity supporting people and local organisations across Hythe, Dibden, Fawley and Marchwood.

It provides support to people facing need, hardship or distress, while also working with local organisations to improve opportunities within the community.

Music at Lift New Forest is built around performance, composition and listening and analysis, with students developing these skills as they progress through the school.

They can also build their performance skills through lessons with visiting tutors.

Rob Forder, Principal of Lift New Forest, said: “We are delighted to have secured this funding, which will make a real difference to our students.

The cost of professional music lessons can be a barrier, so it is fantastic to be able to give more students the opportunity to develop their skills and confidence.

“We are particularly pleased that this will support students studying Music for GCSE and help them pursue their interest in music beyond school.”
